Adding Interaction

I used the mini game we completed earlier on in the semester to complete the adding interaction assignment on the wiki. I just changed the intances names within the mini game assingment and allowed the object to move left and right instead of just up and down.

Paper Prototype

I found it relatively easy to draw my paper prototype in flash. The reason being is because my drawing was basically all straight lines, which created little difficulty with drawing it. The way i actually wanted my game to look would have caused me to go into a bit more detail with my drawing, but i think i will save that for gaming II

Choosing A Topic

Identify a Game Genre For Exploring Your Topic

  • Genre 1: First person shooter
    • Why I chose it: Im big fan of shooter games on xbox, and even old school arcade games such as galaga.
  • Genre 2: Strategy
    • Why I chose it: Strategy games haven't really interested me much growing up, so i think creating one would be a good way to learn and explore the possibilities.

Playing to learn

Write comments about this assignment here There really wasn't a purpose of the shooter game. There seemed to be terroist running through the streets and you just aimed and shot and blew up buildings. The animation on the game was cool. The concept didn't seem to make sense but the graphics were good for such a low budget and pointless game. Yes, it looks good and it clearly illustrates the concept. It's clear and it works well. Give the game an actual purpose, like some enemies to kill. I would like to learn how to make a bullseye so i can create a shooter game and i would love to learn how they did there animation and graphics.

Go rabbit, Go! is a game were the user is playing the role of an injured rabbit running around from a mean turtle in order to collect his carrots. As far as the game from a learners point of view goes it utilizes collision detection and it keeps count of the carrots you have left to obtain in each level. It looks pretty good and it definitely clearly illustrates the concept. Yes, its clear what you need to do and it works very well. I would make the turtle a little bit tougher to get away from or make it come after the rabbit faster.

PowerPoint Presentation

I feel like my powerpoint presentation went well even though my game wasn't up to the standard that i wanted it to be. I didn't have the help i desired to create my vision.

game uncertainty

its getting down to crunch time when it comes to the game and i have made little progress because my teammate has not been to class. We present our game very soon and i have made no strides towards even getting the title screen done.

Adding Sound to Flash

As far as adding sound to flash thats a simple task to accomplish. Finding the sound is the hard part. My game could have some sound added to it, but i don't feel as if its necessary to do so at this time, because im having a hard enough time getting it to work.

Adding navigation in flash

Getting my objects to move in my flash document has been difficult. I have a button to push on my title screen that is suppose to make my figure shoot a basketball to start the game. I think i inserted a keyframe or two into the wrong spots in the document.

Drawing in Flash

The methods we use to draw our paper prototypes in flash is simple. Its way easier than free hand drawing. Its more like placing a clear sheet of paper over our drawing that we hand made and tracing it.

Game and Team

I haven't decided on whether or not i want to be on a team to making this game. I have trouble with the whole artistic side of things, especially drawing. As far as the coding goes i have no trouble with doing that. Hopefully everything will work itself out.

Imagining Your Game

The topic that i'm thinking of for my game has to have something to do with sports. Perhaps maybe a trivia game. With questions about basketball, football, soccer, baseball, and hockey, or maybe a game where athletes from those sports have to go against each other in a fight, and the tools that they use during their particular sport can be used for weapons, but this might give the hockey and baseball players an advantage. I want my game to have some sort of sports theme to it, whether it be trivia or an actioned packed gamed.

Favorite Game of All Time

My favorite game of all time is 007 Goldeneye for the Ninetendo 64. It was the first game i was able to beat all the way through besides super mario world on the super ninetendo. I still to this date have never beat super mario 64. The reason i like goldeneye is because i was familiar with the story line because i had seen the movie, and i liked the multiplayer mode.

1.Write a Blog post about this topic, share your learning experience!
2.Was it hard to make your mini game? What was the best part of this topic? The worst part?
3.Do you play games in your free time? Which ones do you play and why are they your favorite?
Comment on one of your classmate's blogs!

1.This whole assignment was new to me because i had never worked with flash before this. I found that the coding was fairly simple, which made the assignment quick and easy to do.
2. It definitely wasn't hard to make. The best part of the assignment was getting the carrot and the rabbit to move.
3. I play alot of xbox in my free time, and occasionally some flash games in the library in between assignments. I really like the stunt bike flash games.
